Group walking and running sessions that cater for all.

Can Walk Can Run is a walking and running program for people living with and beyond cancer.

It aims to help people improve their ability to participate in a fun run or park run style event and is delivered by both people with lived experience of cancer as well as exercise physiologists.

Can Walk Can Run is also a part of a research project led by researchers from The University of Melbourne and Cancer Council Victoria that is examining new ways of supporting physical activity in community settings after a cancer diagnosis.

Each session will have an introduction, warm up, some strength exercises, walking, jogging, or running exercises, and a cool down.

Participants will also receive a weekly newsletter with information on physical activity and lifestyle after cancer. Participants can also ask for an individualised exercise program from an exercise physiologist.

It’s not just about exercise as medicine. We are also looking to have fun, build community, support ourselves and each other. Morning walk and runs finish with an optional coffee. Evenings finish with some light snacks and an opportunity to mingle.

Sessions will be inclusive and free from judgment. They will approach movement in a joyful way.

Can Walk Can Run will be delivered throughout 2024.
